Born in Duluth MN in 1987, Scott Edward aka NonFic is now emerging as a top local talent. In his early youth he became a dedicated student of all things hip hop culture after discovering a Big Daddy Kane cassette tape, and since then he hasn’t looked back.
UpcomingHipHop.NET recently named him as one of the “5 Minnesota Hop Hop Artists You Should Know About” describing his music as, “It’s the sound that I love. It’s calm. It’s positive. It’s unique. It makes you bob your head.”
And Jerard Fagerberg of City Pages states, “NonFic has a monstrous rhyming dictionary” and “each movement feels like chapters in a sonic book that rotates around NonFic’ s unassailable flow.”
On August 26th 2016 NonFic self released his full length debut project ‘Worth the Work’ via Soundcloud and Bandcamp, produced entirely my St. Paul native Ill Vibras aka Carl Pearson. The duo also released a music video for the debut single ‘Got It’ on the same day. Currently two more video singles are in production and scheduled for release this Fall/Winter. NonFic then looks forward to continuing work with Minneapolis based Doomtree producer Lazerbeak on their collaborative project release date TBA.
NonFic’ s live raw performance energy and skillset has booked him numerous local shows as a headliner, and allowed him to open for Rhymesayers artists Prof, Grieves and Grayskul. He has also booked other major opening spots, and shared the stage with the likes of Machine Gun Kelly , Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Freddie Gibbs , Nappy Roots, and Jarren Benton.
NonFic looks forward to releasing more music and video content in the near future and also performing more shows outside of the Duluth area. He has the focus, drive, and work ethic to entertain crowds for years to come.
